Light
a DVAA members’ exhibition in gallery 1 @ dvaa
Exhibition Runs: December 2 - December 20, 2020
public Opening Reception:
Wednesday, December 2, 7-8pm
About the exhibition:
2020 has been a dark year. From the looming threat of COVID-19, to nationwide protests against racial injustice, to the election, this year has taken an enormous toll on all of us. And even though isolation and uncertainty has become the new normal, a hope for a better tomorrow remains. There is still light through all of this darkness, the trick is getting there (together). As 2020 fades into a new year DVAA calls on its community of artists to come together and lend their unique voices for the last exhibition of the year.
All members were prompted to respond to the exhibition title ‘Light’. What does light mean to us and our artistic practices in 2020? Is Light a guiding beacon, the dramatic stage for chiaroscuro, a peaceful refuge, or a buoyant respite? Let us usher in 2021 as a family with hope, illumination, or maybe even a bit of levity.
