About:
As a little boy, Neufeld was diagnosed with pervasive developmental delay, a learning disability. But it didn’t stop him at all from gaining and sharing so many talents as possible. He grew fond of art through his mother, who’s also an artist. Through drawing, painting, ceramics, printmaking, photography, comic books, and animation, Neufeld captures the people, still lives, and sites that he sees on his travels. The buildings, landscapes, seascapes, and railroads he creates come from both direct observation and photographs he takes.
“Art has inspired and helped me see things in the world creatively. Skills that I have to this day not only include fine art, but also playing sports, singing, playing the cello, cooking, and making movies.”
Artist Statement:
“I get inspired by almost anything that gives me ideas and visions about how I can express myself to other people with my artwork. I mainly get inspiration from exhibitions at museums as well as anything in the world from direct observation. In my artwork, the mediums that I enjoy working with are pencils, charcoal, pastels, pen and ink, water-colors, acrylics, and oil paints. Water-colors are easy and convenient for me to take along wherever I go on my travels. I use acrylics and gouaches to build up details and paint crisp edges realistically. When using oil paints, I blend the colors together in a loosely and improvisational manner. ”
