Artists are capable of telling truths with a few simple words, the stroke of the paintbrush, or the flash of a camera. In Walter Isaacson’s book on Leonardo da Vinci he says: Leonardo’s relentless curiosity and experimentation should remind us of the importance of instilling, in both ourselves and our children, not just received knowledge but a willingness to question it—to be imaginative and, like talented misfits and rebels in any era, to think different.”  This is what artists do best - challenge norms, imagine new worlds and hold a mirror up to our society.

For the last 88 years, Da Vinci Art Alliance (DVAA) has continuously served as a space of creative refuge, providing our makers, truth-seekers and visual artist members with space, community and exhibition opportunities to share their work with the public. 2019 has been a tremendous year at Da Vinci Art Alliance! Together we have grown to new heights as an organization and as a community. We’ve transitioned to full-time staff, piloted our first grant funded Fellowship Program, announced our new community arts festival (Da Vinci Fest), and have caught the eye of the Philadelphia’s press and arts community like never before. Recently named the “Best Place to Buy Affordable Art” (Philly Mag 2019), we are at the cusp of a Renaissance at DVAA and are thrilled to have you as part of our community.

Donations directly support DVAA’s operations, allowing us to:

  • Provide free entry to over 35 exhibitions annually (over 10,000 people came through our doors in 2018).

  • Give subsidized memberships to under-resourced and student artists ensuring that our community is as diverse, accessible and vibrant as possible.

  • Build our outreach program bringing creativity and color to memory care residents in various venues across Philadelphia.

  • Support our Da Vinci Fellowship, providing opportunities for under-resourced members to create whole exhibitions and opportunities that uplift artists of color, opening spaces where they can talk about issues in places where they are not usually addressed. Engaging with local communities our fellows are asked to examine, explore and challenge who is in charge of the narrative and why?

We hope that you’ll consider joining us on this venture to revitalize and grow the capacity in which Da Vinci Art Alliance serves our artists and patrons. There are many ways to give and your contribution of any size directly supports Philadelphia artists and the creative economy.

Planned Giving

Leonardo da Vinci bequeathed to the world a glorious body of paintings, illuminating series of sketches and drawings, and scientific ideas that were years ahead of his time. This extraordinary individual left us with a sense of curiosity that runs through our current creative economy and resonates with innovators of today. Like Leonardo, you too can create a lasting legacy of great art, imagination and community building for Philadelphians for years to come! Planned gifts provide DVAA with income that ensures the vitality and growth of our exhibitions, programs and artistic community.  By including Da Vinci Art Alliance in your long-term plans, you can ensure that you take care of yourself, your family, and a community based art organization that you value and believe in. In addition to a bequest in your will, there are other ways you may make a legacy gift including naming DVAA as a beneficiary of your retirement plan, life insurance policy or even gifting real estate to support our mission. Please contact Executive Director, Jarrod Markman at Jarrod@davinciartalliance.org for more information!
