Exhibitions Committee
EXHIBITIONS COMMITTEE Overview
The Exhibition Committee is a member-run volunteer group of DVAA members and staff that supports and steers the exhibitions programming at DVAA. They contribute administrative support and artistic input to help determine the exhibitions programming at DVAA. Having a member-run committee ensures that our exhibitions always reflect the diversity of DVAA’s broader membership in terms of personal identity and artistic expertise.
The Exhibitions Committee meets throughout the year to:
Review exhibition proposals for future shows at DVAA
Review applications for the Fellowship and Residency programs
Curate one Member’s Invitational Exhibition annually
Design the criteria for DVAA’s All-Members Exhibition “Perennial Visions” each December
Discuss and strategize the overall direction and focus of exhibitions at DVAA
Report back from Docent and Installation sub-committees
Exhibition Committee Subcommittees
Exhibition Committee members can serve on as many or few subcommittees as fits into their schedule, however, all-member Exhibition Committee meetings are required as a condition of serving on the committee unless otherwise arranged with DVAA staff.
Installation Subcommittee
The Installation Subcommittee is responsible for assisting in the deinstallation, repair, and installation of DVAA’s exhibitions. Guided by the DVAA staff, the Installation Subcommittee members learn a variety of best practices involving artwork installation, exhibition design, and gallery repair. Serving on the Installation Subcommittee involves 6-12 hours of work in the lead up to monthly exhibition turnover.
Docent Subcommittee

As an informed authority on exhibitions at DVAA, Docent Subcommittee members welcome visitors to DVAA, answer questions about the artwork and gallery, and shares their unique perspective as a particularly involved DVAA member. Serving on the Docent Subcommittee is assigned on a volunteer basis and can range from 6-18 hours of work a month.
