DVAA Depends on our Engaged and Dedicated Group of Volunteers

Help us continue providing free arts and culture programs by signing up to become a DVAA volunteer!

Each year, DVAA hosts hundreds of free arts and culture programs that serve Philadelphians of all ages and backgrounds. Our goal is to make art as accessible and inclusive as possible. The truth is, this requires a lot of man-power. This is why our volunteers are so important and make such a powerful impact. DVAA works because of the enthusiasm, effort and unique talents of people like you. Join this dedicated group by taking our DVAA volunteer survey through the button below! Keep scrolling to learn more about the specific programs you can get involved in.

With your responses to the DVAA Volunteer Survey, we’ll be able to match you with events that will best suit your interests and schedule!

Programs that need your help!

COMMITTEES

DVAA is a collective, and that means one of the most important ways to lend your skills to our organization is by joining one of our committees. Selecting works to be in group exhibitions, planning mixers for our members, helping to orchestrate marketing and fundraising campaigns—these are just a few of the tasks that our committees take on, and they would all benefit from your specific contributions. By committing to just one meeting per month, you can gain hands-on experience with our arts organization and exponentially expand what DVAA can do for the communities we serve.

EVENTS

At DVAA, we pride ourselves on being active neighbors in our community. That means that we often team up with other local organizations to put on programming that we think matters, and can provide our city and its residents with more opportunities to connect and explore. These events have included everything from street festivals to movie screenings to dinner parties—which means our volunteers’ contributions are just as varied. Volunteers are often needed to help set up tables, greet attendees, distribute printed materials, make sure the area stays clean and answer questions—but they also may find themselves emceeing a costume contest, running a photo booth or mixing a signature mocktail.

Artist Workshops

Throughout the year DVAA regularly runs free and low-cost workshops for artists of all ages and abilities to create artwork in collaboration with exhibiting artists and partnering organizations. These workshops usually take place either in DVAA galleries or at Palumbo Park. Volunteers are needed to help set up, break down, and manage these events.

OUTREACH

With so much going on, we are always grateful for help making sure as many people know about our events, workshops and opportunities as possible. This is why outreach is a major pillar of our volunteer efforts. Have a bike and love to ride it? Please help us flyer about upcoming fundraisers and open calls! Have a large network who might be interested in attending an art market? Send a personal email so that our artists can reach as wide an audience as possible! We’re always grateful for the chance to expand our network in ways that are meaningful—so if one of our initiatives connects with you, please do reach out and help it connect with someone else!

Thank you.

Your interest in helping this community thrive means the world to us.
