About:

I am a mixed media and collage artist who specializes in photo collages made from my own photos. I began a second career as an artist about 15 years ago, studying the basics, including the Art of Collage, which became my passion. I have shown my work at numerous local venues and picked up a few prizes and awards along the way. I am a member of Inliquid and Da Vinci Art Alliance where I have shown my work extensively and am a member of the Exhibitions Committee. This year my work is focusing on the construction of a new hospital, with photo collages scheduled to be shown at two venues, including a solo show.

Artist Statement:

“I am a collage and mixed media artist. Collage making is like solving a puzzle: the pieces and elements have to fit together to make an image that works. It’s always a thrill when I feel like I hit the right combination. I use bright, vivid colors that resonate with me and draws the attention of the viewer. Composition is paramount and I most often use rectangular shapes and strong angles that overlap and intersect each other. My collages have a definite sense of playfulness. Currently, I am focusing on creating photo collages using my own photographs. My process includes selecting salient features that I raise, and enhance colors using watercolor paint or markers to give the piece a 3-dimensional quality. I often combine pieces from several different photos to get the right composition. I work on a small scale, the largest pieces being 11 x 14, with much time devoted to little details. ”
