About the exhibition:

Da Vinci Art Alliance invited all artists working on or with paper to submit to DVAA's second Works on Paper competition juried by Rochelle Toner. While thematically open, this exhibition features the diverse and tactile nature of work with and on paper.

ABOUT THE JUROR:

Rockie Toner was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. She attended the University of Northern Iowa as an undergraduate and received her MFA from the University of Illinois. In 1972 Toner began teaching at Tyler School of Art/Temple University where she taught drawing and printmaking for thirty years. From 1976 to 1979 she taught in Tyler’s study abroad program in Rome Italy. The last thirteen years at Tyler, Toner served as Dean of the School. Toner retired from full time teaching and administrative work in 2002. Toner’s studio work has always been related to and inspired by her interest in and fascination by the forces of nature and an exploration of the dynamics of gender and sexuality. Her work has been exhibited widely and is held in numerous public and private collections. In 2010 she was honored by the SouthernGraphics Council International as Printmaker Emeritus. This past fall, 2018, Toner had a one person survey of her work at the Philadelphia Print Center, including over 50 pieces in etching, drawing and collage.
