Philadelphia Colors: The Observations and Abstractions of Floyd Kelley

An EXHIBITION BY Floyd Kelley at Atria Center City

Exhibition Runs: July 13 - November 9

About the exhibition:

With Philadelphia Colors, Floyd Kelley presents a collection of work spanning a 10 year period which includes a wide variety of subjects and several stylistic approaches. Each of his brightly colored photographs begin with a digital image capture through the lens of a camera. Some images have been transformed and abstracted using Photoshop software, while others are literal takes on the encountered scenes. Many of these scenes will be familiar to those who have a called the city of Philadelphia their home.

Philadelphia Colors: The Observations and Abstractions of Floyd Kelley will be on view on the 5th floor of Atria Center City and is unfortunately not open to visitors. The work, however, will be for sale through our website and a walkthrough video tour will be made available once the exhibition is installed.

About the artist:

Floyd Kelley, Jr. is a native Philadelphia photographer (and Central High School Alumni) who is driven by a passion for photography and finding overlooked perspectives in the everyday. His subjects vary from Philadelphia’s urban scenes, landscape, and empty places, to the flowers, birds, and insects of nearby suburbs, as well interesting takes on family and friends. Along with traditionally portrayed images are images creatively transformed into a unique form of colors, tones, and feelings.
