About:
I am an architect by profession and a member of Golden Sunrise N.Y.A., the last remaining mummer club in the Fancy Division of the parade, dedicated to building large-scale floats and backpieces for display along the parade route.
Artist Statement:
Art at its fullest draws on the resources of a living tradition, makes room for new practitioners with new perspectives, and takes place within the thick of life among the widest possible public. The pieces below embody the work of my own hands and mind, but they would not have been possible outside of the tradition of the Philadelphia Mummers parade, without the help and guidance of the members of Golden Sunrise N.Y.A., nor, I believe, outside of the culture of public art of South Philadelphia.
