About:

Laurie Krivo is a watercolor painter in Philadelphia. Painting is my second career after many years as an academic sociology professor doing quantitative research and writing. After I chose to leave that analytic work, I became enthralled with the very different and free-flowing artistic side of myself. I began my artistic journey with drawing classes at Fleisher Art Memorial in Philadelphia and quickly decided to move on to painting. Watercolor was not easy at first, but it pulled me in. I have not looked back.

Artist Statement:

Flowing colors blending in harmony and contrast. I fell in love with watercolor paints when I saw how they whoosh, explode, and blend to express joy and wonder. Once I started, I couldn’t stop putting paint to paper -- creating art that expresses my interpretations and feelings of nature and the world around me. And thus, Laurie Krivo the artist was born.

My paintings are inspired by walks in the woods, gardens, and neighborhoods near my home, as well as visits to cities and countrysides in other places. They highlight my unique style that is loose, expressive, and filled with color and contrast. I want to share the joy of watercolor with everyone!
