Artist Statement:

My work is an exploration of relationships between visual art and music composition. I create pieces of art and music which are not merely subjective, and instead are direct translations of one another based on the relationship between the frequencies of pitches (Hz) and relative frequencies of colors on the visual light spectrum (THz). I utilize visual mediums to convey musical concepts which would be nearly impossible to express otherwise. I am constantly striving to create a balance between visually and aurally stimulating works which can function independently of one another but are best enjoyed in unison.

The majority of my compositions are designed to sound different every single time they are performed. This fosters a unique connection between performers and the works themselves, while also allowing for creative expression in both musical and artistic realms. My other works are direct translations of musical works either written by myself or by famous composers. My artwork is designed to be accessible to a wide range of musicians and viewers as to foster an appreciation for contemporary composition and art.

Presently, I’m experimenting with using alternative mediums and expanding beyond traditional paint-on-canvas artworks. I am currently interested in integrating data and technology into my work, as well as drawing upon my experiences working in healthcare as a music therapist. I aim to push contemporary music and art simultaneously, while maintaining a strong relationship between the two.
