Artist Statement:
When I create my art, I am expressing an idea, an image, vision or feeling. It is a rich mix of reality and imagination. I work in water media, pencil and pen and ink, painting and drawing what I see and feel, hoping to share that vision with the viewer.
Many artists choose one style – abstract, contemporary traditional or realism. I choose to work in realistic and abstract. My realistic works are primarily landscapes sharing my enjoyment of the outdoors and nature’s wonders. They are like windows into another place, inviting the viewer to take a walk along my path and experience the richness of a lush green meadow, a forest trail, the colors of fall or the lapping of water as it meets the shore.
My abstracts are filled with surprises, shapes, forms, and vibrancy letting the viewer discover my secrets and energy behind every brush and palette knife stroke. From brilliant reds to calming yellows to many shades of black, I hope to encourage the viewer to use their imagination to see and feel what they want to. I hopes that when we look at his art, whether it is realistic or abstract, we are joining him on a special visual experience.
