“It’s important to remember that while there are policies and procedures to follow, often times you might need to find creative solutions to unique situations”

Erin is a clinical nurse educator at Thomas Jefferson Hospital Emergency Department. During the pandemic, she made sure emergency room nurses had the supplies and PPE they needed, along with leadership and support. She leads by being approachable, trustworthy, and fair – someone her staff can confide in. In the emergency department, she puts her creativity to use by thinking outside of the box in order to respond to the day to day variability.

What does leadership mean to you?

“To me, leadership is all about the relationship you hold with your staff members. I like to consider myself an approachable, trustworthy & fair leader that staff can turn to in foand feel comfortable confiding in.”

What does creativity mean to you?

“Creativity, is working outside the box. In the ED the one thing you can always rely on is the day to day variability. It's important to remember that while there are policies and procedures to follow, often times you might need to find creative solutions to unique situations.”
