“Creativity is the mechanism that keeps the world moving forward. It is the use of the mind to imagine new possibilities and connections. It can be found in all aspects of life from art and culture to science and technology. Creativity is ageless and timeless.”

Camille Halsey is the Program Manager at The Philadelphia Cultural Fund as well as an adjunct professor at Temple University Dance Department. She is especially passionate about serving organizations rooted in bringing art, culture and confidence to students and the community. Camille also enjoys her freelance work in Philly’s vibrant dance community as a choreographer, performer and lighting designer.

Camille studied dance performance and psychology at Temple University in the hopes of becoming a dance therapist. Although this career path changed over time, her passion to work in the arts never subsided. Being a freelance dance artist and choreographer has allowed Camille to understand others in her community in a deeper way as well as to spread a message of connection through art and shared human experiences. Her work at The Philadelphia Cultural Fund and Temple University dance department allows her to bring the arts to communities in need of healing and restoration.

How do you define creativity?

“Creativity is the mechanism that keeps the world moving forward. It is the use of the mind to imagine new possibilities and connections. It can be found in all aspects of life from art and culture to science and technology. Creativity is ageless and timeless.”

Where do art and your discipline meet?

“Art has always driven my discipline and my career choices. It has been with me from a young age. I have always known that I wanted to use my love of art and its power as a tool of healing and connection for others. I went to Temple University to study dance performance and psychology in the hopes of becoming a dance therapist. Although this career path changed over time, my passion to work in the arts never subsided. Being a freelance dance artist and choreographer has allowed me to understand others in my community in a deeper way as well as spread a message of connection through art and shared human experiences. My work at The Philadelphia Cultural Fund and Temple University dance department allows me to do what I have always sought out to do; bring the arts to communities in need of healing and restoration. I enjoy providing organizations with the tools they need to successfully run their programs as well as adding to the vibrancy and diversity of Philadelphia. My work will always reflect the necessity of human connection, art, and healing.”
