Bundle samples steaming inside of a pot

Learn how to create beautiful, one-of-a-kind plant prints and patterns on textiles using natural dyes.

This workshop will lead participants through two unique natural dye processes for creating patterns on fabric: bundle dyeing using a variety of kitchen scraps, food waste dyes, and spices; and eco-printing using locally grown dye flowers. By focusing on both kitchen dyes and flower dyes, participants will be introduced to a broad array of natural dye sources. Bundle dyeing and eco-printing are two of the most water-wise natural dye techniques, making these methods particularly eco-friendly. You will leave this workshop having created two naturally dyed fabric samples, one for each process, and handouts that will allow you to continue investigating these practices on your own. Get inspired by the magic of coaxing color from cheerful flowers and humble kitchen waste to create works of art on fabric. When registering, if it's within your means, please consider a donation when registering through Eventbrite to help us cover the expenses of this workshop. The cost to run this workshop works out to be $25 per person.

This workshop will have enough materials available for 16 people to create dyed samples. If you register to attend, please be mindful we are purchasing supplies for you. If you can no longer come, even if it’s the day of, please let us know so we can open your seat for someone else to be able to use the purchased materials. We always encourage “audits” if the class gets booked up and you are still interested in learning about the process. Please feel free to come, learn from Laura, and see what everyone creates!
