Artist Statement:

My interdisciplinary practice spans a variety of mediums, including painting, sculpture, experimental design, and digital media. By incorporating everyday objects such as thread, found items, and tobacco products, I infuse my art with symbolic meanings, exploring complex contemporary issues through simplistic compositions.

My work is influenced by the history of photography and the representation of marginalized individuals in colonized societies. Through my art, I resist colonial ideals by introducing new images and stories that are relevant to underrepresented communities, fostering a space for dialogue and understanding.

Similar to Marcel Duchamp's 'Mile of String,' I meticulously link images together with threads, forming an intricate web of connections that bind us to one another. The threads in my collages stand out and do not blend into the bound material, representing not only what unites the 'Other,' but also the societal forces that bind us to a false world perception or stereotype.

As an artist, I aspire to create a fine art world that is more accessible to underrepresented groups and artists, less intimidating and more inclusive. Through my oeuvre, I aim to contribute to a more just and equitable world, one artwork at a time.
