May Critical Theory
About the program:
"Critical Theory Discourse" is a conversational gathering that allows DVAA members to tackle challenging works of art theory and history together.
About this event:
At this month’s Critical Theory, we will be discussing two works by Mao Zedong from 1937: On Practice, and On Contradiction. On Contradiction followed his essay On Practice with the same objective of overcoming the serious error of dogmatist thinking to be found in the Communist Party at the time. By attacking the misconceptions of the relationship between Practice and Theory, Comrade Mao expands upon the Marxist Theory of Knowledge and asserts practice as a position of primary importance.
How to Participate:
Due to enforced social distancing, Critical Theory is going digital! To maintain the safety of our Members and staff, we will be hosting a ZOOM conference instead of an in-person discussion.
To participate in the digital program: register for the event, download and read the pdfs, and then join the discussion on ZOOM and enter the Meeting ID: 974-5209-5493.
