Stephanie Van Riet

About:

Stephanie Van Riet is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice strives to bring compassion and consciousness to the natural world and the fascinating creatures that are overlooked and endangered by our habits and lifestyles. Fascinated by how living beings re-sculpt the contours of our planet and develop a collective intelligence through their movements, she visually organizes her observations and research through printmaking, sculpture and installation. Her work has been exhibited throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maryland and Pennsylvania, and she has recently been a Wind Fellow at InLiquid Gallery and an Apprentice at the Fabric Workshop and Museum. Van Riet received her BA in Art and Anthropology from Connecticut College. She has been involved in many public projects in Philadelphia, and currently teaches at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
