About the exhibition:
Span is a solo exhibition of paintings developed over the past year by DVAA member, Rusty Eveland. The exhibition opens in the gallery space on the fifth floor of Atria Senior Living on January 16th at 4pm.
Rusty Eveland constructs alternative realities in his paintings by distorting the observed landscape. He focuses on the movement of environments, citing the constant movement of our perspective while perceiving our reality. He uses his love for movement to invent a reality, even if it's based on a real person, place, or thing. He says, “there's nothing realistic about my work, but in this case, you'll recognize the structures based on color and certain distorted architectural details.”
With this series, Rusty looks to bridges as a symbol of strength, perseverance, connectivity, and escape; and injects his love of movement to capture small details from his experience. The overlapping bridges establish the composition and secure a wide audience for his work.
