About the exhibition:
Analog photography is alive and thriving in Philadelphia. Shot in the Dark: New Film Photography reveals the ongoing film revolution within Philadelphia through the tactile beauty of hand-crafted, hand-toned silver gelatin prints.
This dedicated group of Philadelphia-based black and white film photographers span across age groups and backgrounds. Though varying greatly in subject matter, photographic style and process, they all create with the same vision and purpose: to bring images into fruition through the magical process of black and white film photography. The work in this exhibition includes various types of black and white film and formats, using an array of different cameras, papers, and printing methods.
Shot in the Dark: New Film Photography opens at Da Vinci Art Alliance in Gallery 1 on May 13th, with a virtual opening reception on May 16th at 2pm on Zoom. The exhibition will be on view in the gallery by appointment (masks required, timed-entry) and as a recorded video tour on the Da Vinci Art Alliance website.
