DVAA OPEN CALL FOR ART FOR THE 2026 SEPTEMBER EXHIBITION

Props & Performance

What possibilities emerge through the use of props in performance and protest?

Props and Performance explores the inclusion of props in performance pieces – how props create impact, tell stories, and influence audiences. Props have always played a significant role in storytelling: from the stage to protest movements, a prop has the power to create a powerful image and memory. Can you imagine Romeo & Juliet without the dagger? Or Peoplehood without puppets? Props and Performance brings together physical props, art exploring props, puppets, and live performance in our second floor space, Gallery 2, to examine the role that props play for performers, participants, and audience members.
