About the exhibition:
Throughout history, objects have carried weight far beyond their physical form. A single prop, placed in the right hands at the right moment, can hold an entire story. A weapon, a skull, or a scrap of paper can transform into something an audience will remember long after the performance ends. From the theater stage to the silver screen, props have shaped how we witness, feel, and remember.
Props and Performance sets out to explore this power: how a single object can create impact, tell a story, and move an audience. Can you imagine Romeo & Juliet without the dagger? Or Peoplehood without its puppets? Bringing together physical props, artwork that examines their role, puppetry, and live performance, Props and Performance asks what a prop really does, whether it be for the performer holding it, the participant engaging with it, or the audience watching it unfold.
