About:
Maria is a muralist and painter in the Philadelphia area. She graduated from Moore College of Art & Design with a BFA in Fine Arts. While working on a studio practice, Maria works closely with different communities around Philadelphia highlighting warm, connecting moments through Muralism. She focuses on the instances where we bond with our communities that make up so much of our identities.
Artist Statement:
“My work embodies a moment of common feelings or experiences that are shared among communities and in domestic spaces; through the use of rich colors in both acrylic and oil paint. My paintings include the ways that many first or second generation latinx (and other ethnicities) experience their culture. I choose to paint moments that people might be familiar with like cooking, crafts, and gardening.”
