About the exhibition:
Art is no stranger to what artist Inga Kimberly Brown calls “the mysteries of life beyond the physical.” Inspiration and its source have long been the subject of conversation, confusion, and reverence. It’s no wonder, then, that spiritualism and art have been bound together across time—not just in the spiritualism boom of the early 20th century or in the recent resurgence of those works in the art world. To make art is to be open to channeling something unseen. In that vein, Da Vinci Art Alliance is proud to present “Guided,” an exhibition that asks viewers not just to look, but to feel—and to leave with a renewed sense of connection, faith, and personal direction.
“This exhibition is important to me because it weaves together my lifelong communication with Spirit and my artistic practice as a painter,” Brown says of the exhibition. “The works invite viewers to reflect not only on art, but on their own relationships with those who have passed and the mysteries of life beyond the physical.”
From sketches to large-scale oil paintings, Brown explores the act of mediumship and the role it plays in guiding viewers through their ancestral memory by divining their relationship with Spirit through intuitive mediation or ‘spirit gazing.’ As a part of her community programming, Brown offers viewers an opportunity to sit with her in correspondence with forces unseen.
Guided will be on view in Gallery 1 at Da Vinci Art Alliance from April 1st to April 19th.
about the artist:
Inga Kimberly Brown is an artist, psychic medium, and educator whose work bridges the physical and spiritual realms. The daughter of a television producer and a carpenter, Brown grew up in a household filled with creativity, empathy, and an openness to the unseen. She first experienced contact with Spirit at the age of five and has continued to cultivate her gift throughout her life. For Brown, painting became the language through which she could safely and meaningfully communicate with Spirit, transforming her artistic practice into a site of dialogue between worlds. Brown holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Alongside her studio practice, she is a practicing psychic medium and serves as a public school art teacher and artist-educator. Her work has been recognized through awards, fellowships, and both solo and group exhibitions.
