About:

My earliest memory of recognizing my ability to create art was in elementary School. I created a lamb out of a bar of soap introducing me to sculpting. An aunt taught me how to sew which lead to my taking classes and workshops in painting, sculpting, ceramic, beading, print making, crochet, knitting, and lapidary. Finally, obtaining my BFA from Cheney University in 2011.

I have exhibit my work in museums and galleries across the country, including the African American Museum in Detroit, MI, City Hall in Philadelphia, PA, North Carolina City Hall, William Grant Still Art Center, Los Angeles, CA, Underground Railroad in Cincinnati, OH, Textile Center, Minneapolis, MN, and the James Museum in St. Petersburg, FL. My work has been exhibited in the Colored Girls Museum in Philadelphia, PA and Moody Gallery in Glenside, PA.

The year 2023 included a solo exhibit at Scribe Video Center in Philadelphia. In 2024 i have two additional solo exhibits, one at the African American Heritage Museum in Atlantic City, NJ and the other in the gallery at the Crane Art Center in Philadelphia, PA.

Artist Statement:

Much of work is focused on individuals who have made a profound impact in black history. Another aspect of my art incorporates varied materials and found objects. It is primarily a combination of painting, sculpting, quilting and print making. My ultimate goal as an artist is to create work that is impactful both in meaning and aesthetics, echoing the comments of one viewer who commented that; after seeing my work she was compelled to just sit in the gallery to fully absorb the work.
