Artist Statement:
Art exists in the space between our basic needs—food, shelter, water, safety, and the forces that threaten our physical and psychological well-being. In this space, art becomes a fight against isolation, a response to both mental and physical threats.
Whether through the feel of a paintbrush in hand or the act of creation when the mind is freed, art transcends isolation, reaching out to connect, to communicate. It fulfills an innate need for expression and provides a means to share our internal worlds, to help others and ourselves
