About the Artists:

Jill Cucci Smith is best known for her poetically layered, mixed media work. Her materials are vast and often embedded with an encaustic medium. Hidden behind thread, words, paper and wax lies her life‘s documentation and experiences. A middle school art teacher, owner and director of a small art school in upper Township, N.J,  Jill has degrees from Montclair University and The University of the Arts. She is currently editing her first book, “Understanding Art, a Short Guide Through a Big Picture”.

Brenda Howell is an artist who has since childhood been drawn to color and texture.  She desires to produce beauty but not in the conventional sense. Beeswax, pigment and heat combined with found materials - imperfect, discarded, unrefined - all draw the viewer deeper into her paintings. Her encaustic mixed media work blurs the line between 2D and 3D, creating a satisfying tension. Howell has paintings in both public and private collections. She lives and maintains a studio in Elkins Park, PA.

Sandra Koberlein is an encaustic artist and an artist educator.  From the first time she experienced painting with encaustic, she has never looked back to her original roots as a graphic designer. She paints with a true passion in the process of layering and embedding materials to be explored by the viewer.  Sandra approaches her paintings with an appreciation of the process the honey bees performed to create the molten wax she paints with. She exhibits her encaustic paintings, monoprints and constructions in competitive galleries throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She is a certified encaustic instructor for R&F Handmade Paints in Kingston, NY.  Sandra teaches workshops in her studio in Woodstown, NJ.
