OPEN CALL FOR ART Dusk & Dawn

on view March 2027 in gallery 1

"We are all like the bright moon, we still have our darker side."- Kahlil Gibran:

March is a transformational time of year; we are moving from Winter to Spring. Not only are flowers budding and animals emerging from hibernation, but we, as humans and artists, also move from isolation to socialization. Dusk & Dawn asks artists to reflect on cycles of endings and beginnings, the thresholds between light and darkness, and nature's transitions, capturing the transformational, mysterious, often ambiguous rhythms of the universe.

We encourage you to share your personal interpretations of dusk and dawn, whether literally or psychologically. Delve into natural themes such as the lunar cycle, the ebb and flow of tides, seasonal changes, and the beauty of the golden hour. Reflect on the contrasts between isolation and connection.

We would especially like to see work made during the upcoming winter, our time of recovery, rest, and reflection. The opening will be an equinox celebration as we come together to view the work you made during a time when we generally see less time with one another.

Guidelines and Submission Requirements

All artwork must respond to the theme in some way. The theme can be interpreted in many ways, and we look forward to seeing what it brings to mind for you!

Submissions are for DVAA members only, and there is no submission cost. Not a member? Join today!

We are accepting wall-mounted artwork, free-standing objects, and pedestal based works, as well as video works to be displayed on a monitor in the gallery.

There is a 36” limitation for wall-mounted artwork, with variable dimensions for non-wall-mounted submissions accepted on a case-by-case basis.

All work must be ready to install (framed, wired, ready for pedestal, etc) or have a detailed plan of action for interpretive works.

No more than 3 artworks per submission.

Members are not guaranteed acceptance into this exhibition.
