In partnership with the 2022 Michelle Angela Ortiz Fellow for his exhibit When the Subaltern Speaks , Shwarga Bhattacharjee will be hosting August Critical Theory. Shwarga has invited Tausif Noor and Swagato Chakravorty (the current Daniel W. Dietrich II Fellow at the PMA) to join us in a discussion of the 1962 film, Subarnarekha by Bengali filmmaker Ritwik Ghatak. The film covers the 1947 Partition and depictions of refugee subaltern identities.
