The Symposium is a two-day gathering of artists, scholars, organizers, and cultural workers exploring the practices, histories, and conditions that sustain collective cultural production.

Sacha Vega and Alyse James are leading a participatory symposium on Devised Theater at Asian Arts Initiative.

Devising is a process of sharing ideas, skills, and resources, and it can serve as a blueprint for how we can work together collaboratively to scheme and dream up new societal structures.

The workshop will be in two parts. The first part will give a background on the history of Devised Theater, our relationship to it, and how we used Devised Theater to make our piece W(hite)omen, which is premiering at Collective Future's Festival. In the second portion of the workshop, we will give creative prompts that allow attendees to get up on their feet and begin to play with devising tools themselves.
