About the exhibition:

Bookends is a show about home and family.

The "bookend" generations of my grandparents and niblings (nieces/nephews) are the center points around whom my family gathers.

Meals, togetherness, and quiet moments come forward as themes in this show. The soft warm light and intimate points of view invite the viewer into these scenes. The paintings welcome them into a world of comfort and care as if they are warm and sleepy and have just finished a meal.

The paintings capture not just the likeness of the subjects but also the underlying emotional atmosphere. Snapshots of small everyday gestures—imbued with warmth and texture--consider the significance of togetherness and how we sustain one another.

Bookends will be on view in Gallery 1 from April 3 - April 19, 2025 with an opening reception on Saturday, April 5th from 4-7pm.
