Abigail Guidry

About:

Abigail Guidry (they/she) is an artist, poet, and memory worker. They produce zines and artist books with Guidry Press, a sibling collaborative they co-founded with their brother. They run a bi-weekly writing circle in South Philly and can otherwise be found watching horror movies and learning new crafting techniques.

Artist Statement:

I have always been preoccupied with books and paper. Repetitive, detailed processes like weaving, papermaking, and textile craft, act as both a meditative practice and a backbone of my work. My media of choice include photography, poetry, artists’ books, and collage. Taking from my own experiences as a queer, disabled artist in Philadelphia, I explore memory and selfhood by creating multi-genre artworks that celebrate the fluidity of identity and expression.
