About:

Pixel is a queer, trans, and neurodivergent Burmese Chinese multi-media artist. Their work ranges from physical medias with acrylic and watercolor paints and beadwork, to digital media including: pixel art, photography, graphic design, web design, and illustration, occasionally incorporating elements of poetry and music.

A second generation immigrant, Pixel grew up in the greater New York metropolitan area and attended Swarthmore College as a double major in Engineering and Engineering with a focus on regenerative energy and agriculture.

Pixel has worked in youth education, storytelling, and community mobilization with Asian/Southeast Asian and LGBT+ grassroots organizations and values community-based participatory practices which center good relations with the Land.

Pixel enjoys listening to podcasts, identifying fungi, and helping people find what they are looking for.

Artist Statement:

“My multimedia artwork is a collage of artifacts representing how my identity has been informed by relations on the Internet, the City, and the Land as Home. As comfort and joy collide with trauma and neglect, my art is a vessel for healing, reclamation, and connection. I leverage low-tech resources to emphasize the abundance that can be found with that which we already have, care for, and maintain.”
