About:

Mario Nascati is a self taught photographer in the Philadelphia area. His art combines photojournalism with fine art photography and is strong in shadow whether he’s exploring the textural layers of the city as deterioration occurs and its humanity, or documenting a culture of people exiled from their own country. His photographs have been exhibited most recently at the The Wildflower Café in Millville New Jersey, the Village Gallery, Millville NJ, School District of Philadelphia Art Gallery II, The Ven and Vaida Gallery, Philadelphia,PA. ,The Khmer Art Gallery, Philadelphia, PA and the Museum of The Hudson Highlands, Cornwall-on Hudson, NY and held in public and private collections in the Office of the Superintendent, School District of Philadelphia, Dr. Gregory DeSimone, and the Law Firm of Fox, Rothchild, O’Brien and Finkel.

Artist Statement:

“Photographer Elliot Erwitt said ‘All the technique in the world doesn’t compensate for an inability to notice’. As a street photographer I notice things and situations that others may not and that may go unnoticed. I see beauty in the devolution that occurs in cities and other areas in the way they are in a sense recreated through deterioration. Deep lines, layers and textures emerge from behind the facades. This character change if you will takes place not only on an edifice however but in people as well both having been humbled by time.”
