About:

Artist Julie "juicebox" Woodard splits her time between mountain trails and the streets of Philadelphia. She works in various media, including textiles, painting, collage, book arts, and music. She has a BA in American Studies from Temple University and an MA in Museum Education from the University of the Arts. She teaches textile collage, sewing, and visible mending classes throughout the Philadelphia region.

Artist Statement:

“Using salvaged textiles, and found objects, and paint, and plant dyes, I create wearable pieces and impressionistic landscapes that convey my passion for nature, memory, and creative reuse. What began as a way to honor my late mom and repurpose family heirlooms, my collections now also feature vintage goods, damaged textiles donated by community members, cutting room remnants, and street debris.

My process incorporates elements of collage, applique, embroidery, quilting, painting, and soft sculpture. The "juice" is the joy I seek to create and the "box" is my platform for storytelling and environmental advocacy. Every piece has a story. Every textile is repurposed with purpose.”
