About:

Benjamin B. Olshin is an artist, designer, teacher, and historian. He was born and raised in Philadelphia, but has done artwork and design projects all over the world, including Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, Brazil, Canada, Ghana, Portugal, Turkey, and Iceland. Currently, he teaches at the Maryland Institute College of Art.

Artist Statement:

Benjamin B. Olshin's work follows a number of different paths, drawing from his interests in travel, investigating other cultures, history, philosophy, and science. He has worked for many years in drawing and painting, but also has created works in digital media, as well. Currently, his primary areas of artistic investigation are the philosophy of landscape (in which he has developed and taught a graduate seminar), the ontology of objects from other worlds, and the nature of migration.
