About the program:
Founded by 9 Italian immigrant artists in 1931, Da Vinci Art Alliance (DVAA) has continuously served as a space of creative refuge. The Da Vinci Fellowship program builds off of our founding mission by annually supporting Philadelphia-based artist or artist/curators. This Fellowship track is named after Severo Antonelli, one of the 9 original founders and a prominent photographer, vibrant community leader and major supporter of Woodmere Art Museum. This opportunity opens up our space to perspectives and artists who could not otherwise afford our rental fees. Valued at $2,895, these fellowship tracks further open DVAA’s doors to innovative ideas and artistic risk-taking and exploration.
Each fellow will:
Develop a fully realized exhibition with DVAA in the assigned gallery space.
Spearhead the exhibition process, including: theme creation, artist management, and ultimate layout and presentation. Each Da Vinci Fellowship exhibition would be supported by DVAA staff and the other Da Vinci Fellows, expanding DVAA’s mission to build community through art.
Participate in at least 3 fellowship planning sessions in preparation for the Da Vinci Fellowship exhibitions throughout 2020.
Meet and engage the DVAA membership by attending at least 1 DVAA Crit Night and participating in at least 1 Membership Exhibition in 2020
The solo show artist would receive a $200 supply gift card and a fully catered exhibition reception. Additionally Fellows will have access to DVAA office resources, space, and other Fellows to develop this show. They would work alongside DVAA's Exhibitions and Programming Director to oversee, advise, and install the exhibition.
The Da Vinci Fellowship Program is made possible by DVAA Membership Dues, Artist & Craftsman Supply, and a generous grant from the Joseph Robert Foundation.
